In the Store
At Ellwood's, we like to get fresh with our customers.
Our store boasts the city's largest selection of local produce, three to four times that of other area stores, so fruits and vegetables are always fresh and flavorful. Our dairy case is stocked with local, free-range eggs, exclusively. Happy, cage-free hens produce eggs with more omega-3 fatty acids, Vitamins A and E, folic acid and beta carotene than factory raised hens.
A state map hangs above the produce section to identify local family farms that grow our produce, most within 100 miles of the store. Fruits and vegetables grown on these farms are clearly marked local and most reflect the organic designation as well. That's not surprising when you consider nearly 100% of the produce offered at Ellwood's is organic.
Our customers tell us they appreciate the peace of mind and ease of shopping that Ellwood's provides. You can shop for produce, dairy, grocery staples, meats and more without having to search for organics; they're everywhere. But, if there are questions about an item, there are always knowledgeable clerks on the floor to help.
What can you do in 30 minutes in the store?

Ellwood Thompson's Local Market is Virginia's largest independent natural/organic market. We're a full-service grocery with an efficient floor plan; we maximize our space to minimize our carbon footprint.
